About the book:

'How could I have known that our first trial sail on an icy November afternoon would lead to nine years living aboard a small, wooden sailing boat? Or that I would survive a 55 knot mid-Atlantic storm, 36 hour bouts of sea-sickness and hour after tedious hour at the helm gazing at horizons of empty sea. My new life left me miles from my home and family, encountering a crack cocaine addict, an east end of London minder and a circus snake act. At times I wept from exhaustion and cold, at others marveled at a magnificent tropical sunset or the enormity of an ocean. Living aboard Fram might have been testing, frightening and exhilarating - but it was never mundane. The book includes sketch plans of the routes we sailed, coloured photographs and a glossary of sailing terms to help non-sailors.

About the Author

The author, Judy Clements, was born in London in 1946 and has spent much of her life traveling the world with her life long partner Ron. Ron and Judy still have their sailing boat Fram and regularly spend time aboard sailing locally and on the continent. Their shared love of adventure has recently seen them off backpacking in Burma and exploring South America. Now living in Suffolk, Judy enjoys spending much of her time landscape painting and writing.
