DA Diamond author Raven Dane has a busy spring this year:

2010 sees the 20th anniversary of the World Horror Convention which this year will be held in England on 25-28th March in Brighton. Raven will be giving a reading of her work to an audience of international fantasy enthusiasts on Sunday morning.

April sees the highly popular Odyssey 2010 Science Fiction Convention at Heathrow where Raven will be on several discussion panels. This event is on April 2nd-5th April.

 

Helen Hollick, DA Diamond author of the Sea Witch series and the Arthurian series Pendragons Banner, has a seat on the judges panel for the British Writers Awards 2010.

At the beginning of March, the author of the fantasy series, The Legacy of the Dark Kind, is a guest at Phoenix Con in Dublin, where she will be on several discussion panels on subjects concerning fantasy, horror and sci fi literature. The event is from 5th to 7th March.

Unleash the Book Inside: Bookwright Workshops from DA Author, Tom Evans

New dates are in for Tom Evan’s Autumn writing workshops. Tom knows that so many people out there have a book lurking in the back of their minds – be it romance, science fiction, teen/children fiction, or poetry.
The Bookwright is Tom’s creation, as well as the workshops, and the experience will show you how to get that book out into the open and published.

Brian Lux will be spending Saturdays promoting his children’s novel “Court of Foxes” next month in Waterstones. He’ll be travelling to Nottingham on the 3rd, Wrexham on the 10th, and Manchester, Trafford Park on the 17th.

September 18th – 20th September: British Fantasy Convention

Raven Dane will be attending the prestigious British Fantasy Convention at the Britania Hotel, Nottingham, from the 18th to 20th September, 2009.
As well as giving readings of her books, Raven will be on a panel discussing:
Dead Good or Just Dead: the Rehabilitation of Vampires” on the Saturday, from 11:00 – 11:45

Raven is also a guest author at the annual Gamesfest, which will be held on October 24th, at the Coliseum in Watford, Herts, where she will be giving readings and meeting sci-fi (or should we say SyFy!) and fantasy fans from all over the country. Check back for more details later this month!

**Saturday 19th September: New Writers UK Festival, Nottingham**

Discovered Authors representatives will be visiting Nottingham for the New Writers UK Festival on Saturday 19th of this month. Write a note in your diaries if you’re in the area, as Michaela Unterbarnschiedt (DA Publisher) and Kate Anderson (Marketing Executive) will be available to answer all your questions on the publishing industry. They will be in the Assembly Rooms from 10am to 5pm.

Two of our published authors will also be available at the Festival. Helen Hollick will be guest speaker on fantasy and historical adventure tales – speaking from experience with her Sea Witch novels, Harold the King, and the Pendragon Trilogy.
Our newest addition to the DA Diamond Imprint is John Baird! And as a member of New Writers UK, he will be launching his first novel at the Festival too; Chasing Shadows, a crime thriller set in Nottingham and the seedy underground of Los Angeles – a must read!!

Monday, 14th September: Charles Egan speaking on Dublin Radio!

Charles Egan, author of ‘The Killing Snows’, will be live on East Coast FM from 10:00am, and live on Country Mix Radio from 10:30. He’ll be talking about his debut novel, and we’re hoping, reading a few snippets from the book too!
If you’re not in the area to listen, like all Radio Stations, the website streams the shows live. Check out their websites on the day:

1st August 2009: The Bargain Bookshop, Chingford, LONDON
‘Helen Hollick Launches “Bring it Close”!’

‘Bring it Close’, the third voyage of Cpt. Jesamiah Acorne, will be sailing up the Thames and docking close to The Bargain Bookshop in Chingford, London. From 11.30am until 1pm on Saturday 1st August, Helen Hollick will be launching the novel, and even signing a few copies! There’s even some whispering of a prize going for those ‘best-dressed pirates’! So get hunting for some props and costumes and come on up (or down) to Chingford on the 1st!
And for all you buccaneers, if you want to grab some victuals afterwards, Helen Hollick (and Capt. Jes himself!) will be heading to the local pub. From 2pm onwards, there’ll be sandwiches awaiting at the Station House Pub on Station Road.

 

30th July 2009: NEW DIAMOND TITLE
‘DA’s first Graphic Novel to be published: Jag Lall with ‘Death’s Door: Ignorance Loves Company’

Already acclaimed by the likes of James Redington, Portent Comics late-Editor, and Mark M. Persaud, M. Chairman and CEO of the Canadian International Peace Project, ‘Death’s Door: Ignorance Loves Company’ by Jag Lall will be launching this month as a DA Diamond. ‘Darren Couchman takes to the streets once more with his Testicle Tour!’

Darren Couchman, author of ‘One Lump or Two’, will be travelling around London on the 11th of July to celebrate his annual ‘Testicle Tour’. Armed with two gigantic, fluffy pink balls, he is raising awareness to the reality behind Testicular Cancer. His book, which centres on his own experience with this, can be found on our website and Amazon (as well as in various bookshops across the nation!).

24th and 25th June 2009:
‘EJ Barton reading from “Instinct”’

EJ Barton, our youngest author at just eighteen, will be dropping into Borders Cheshire Oaks in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, on Wednesday 24th, and Waterstones in Llandudno on Thursday 25th June.
Wednesday will see her in Borders from 6pm, and Thursday will see her in Waterstones from 5.30pm.
She will be reading from her novel, 'Instinct', and likely signing some copies!

John Baird, DA’s newest Diamond author, will be speaking at the Rufford Book Festival. Held between 11.00am and 4.00pm over both days, John will be talking about how to write a short story.  
Rufford Abbey Country Park is a delightful venue for the Festival, situated two miles south of Ollerton, It is situated 17 miles north of Nottingham on the A614 Nottingham, along Doncaster road. Naomi Nielson gives us a reading from ‘Euan’s Torch’

2nd June 2009:
Launch of Helen Hollick’s ‘Bring It Close’, the third voyage of Cpt. Jesamiah Acorne

Cpt. Jesamiah Acorne takes to the seas once more, keeping watch for ol’ Blackbeard, dodging a hanging sentence, and dealing with the ghost of his father! The many adventures of Jesamiah Acorne and his love, the Witch Tiola, are back in a brand new tale.

27th May 2009:
Launch of Peter St. John’s ‘Gang Rivalry’, the next in the World War II ‘Gang’ Series

Peter St. John’s evacuee hero from 1940’s England is back for a new adventure in the village of Widdlington. He’s juggling narrow escapes from his pious aunt, gang feuds, and excitement over a shot-down German Bomber, and much, much more!

Helen Hollick Discusses the Mysteries (and the Histories!) of Writing Fact With Fiction

Waltham Forest’s Literature Festival this year, has Helen Hollick giving a tour of her novels – from marching through Roman Britain to sailing the Spanish Main! Charles Egan Commemorates the National Famine Memorial Day

12th May 2009:
New Website Launch in time for DA’s Anniversary Week!

Discovered Authors had its website re-launched, with all-new features and a sparkling, brand-new layout. The website’s re-launch was in time for DA’s Anniversary Week (5th - 12th May), and included detailed information on the Publication Process from submissions to sales, as well as all our services we offer from Editorial to Publicity and Marketing.
It included a section for all our imprints, our titles and their authors. New sections have been added to coincide with DA’s new projects; our new Imprint, DA Classics, and for our new Author Mentoring Scheme, we added a page for Writers Groups – search for them in your region!
In our title catalogue, you can now click on a book that takes your fancy and buy straight from Amazon UK, through our website, or phone us on 0844 800 5215. You can also now take a look at the author and even listen to an excerpt!

25th & 26th April 2009:
Raven Dane at the Elf Fantasy Festival

At the end of April every year, Holland hosts its Elf Fantasy Festival, and this year one of Discovered Authors’ own attended! Check out the photos from the event, and what the author thought of the festival!
