About the Author: Len Trevallion was born in November 1914 and, after a spell in his father’s building business, joined the Metropolitan Police in 1935.  He was in the force for the first two years of World War II, through the Battle of Britain and the blitz, but in 1941 volunteered to join the RAF and was sent to the United States to train as a pilot.  He flew Blenheim bombers with 13 Squadron in North Africa and Italy, ending the war as a flying instructor.  Back in the police force, he rose to the rank of Inspector and, on retirement from the police, worked in government service.
Full retirement was spent living near Kingston-upon-Thames, enjoying travelling, fishing and gardening until, in 2003, at the age of 88, he moved to Crieff in Perthshire. Happily settled in Scotland, Len looks back on a long and happy life, reflecting on his amazing good fortune.  In his story he recalls many interesting, exciting, and often dangerous encounters, concluding that, somewhere, he must have a guardian angel.
